Kids Summer Camp 2005

by Bryan  Hawkins

Each year has seen our Bryan Hawkins Kenpo Karate Kids Summer Day Camp and Sleep-Away Camp grow both in size and quality.

From our many hikes to gymnastics, our weekly swimming at pool days, the yoga workouts, creative arts and crafts, days at the beach, and our exciting and educational field trips, this was the most fulfilling Summer Day Camp yet.  This success could not have been possible without the help of a great many parents and instructors:  Jennifer Boulanger, Sabryne Coleman, Ann Baskins, Lisa Giombetti, Billy Lear, Ann Marie Tullo, Mr. Gurujodha Khalsa, Jamie Kaltman, Heidi Dye-Rains, Marci Kenberg, Lori Lyons, Karen Grodnitzky, Veronique Restout, Randy Evans, Trula Marcus, Shon Grady, Jennifer Batson, and Tarun Arora.

A special thanks to Jesse DiCamillo for his magic shows, Norma Garcia for her almost full-time help throughout the camp, and Aviva Levin for her many wonderful arts & crafts.

The Sleep-Away Camp was held once again at the Kern River during the first week of August.  Due to the heavier than usual rain and snowfall the previous winter, the swimming, rafting, hiking, and other activities were even better this year than before.   Once again, its success was due in large part to the full-time adult counselors who camped with us:  Bruce Gietzen, Mark Hammer, Jimmy Hawkins, David Hawkins, and Alex Wutki

And a special thanks as always to my wife Melissa for helping to put everything together both for the Day Camp and the Sleep-Away Camp.  We look forward to an even more exciting camp in 2006!
