All-Kenpo Karate Championships

By Bryan Hawkins, President, U.K.S.

This year’s All-Kenpo Invitational Tournament was larger and more successful than any of our previous tournaments to date. We have hosted several All-Kenpo Championships in the last five years and each one is better than the last. Held once again this year at Beverly Hills High School, our tournament featured representatives and competitors from eighteen Kenpo schools in the Greater Los Angeles Area and even a student from one of our associated schools in Oregon. I’m proud to say that a Bryan Hawkins Kenpo Karate student placed in the top three in all divisions of the entire tournament except for two and swept six divisions completely, meaning we took 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. I received a number of phone calls the week after the tournament from instructors who were at the tournament calling to compliment me not only on the performance of my students in the ring, but also their exemplary conduct outside the ring. So to all of you - students and instructors - I send you a heartfelt “Thank You” and “Congratulations” for your performance and support!!
